SAN DIEGO – Old Poway Village got a little sweeter over the weekend with the grand opening of Golden Spoon.

The legendary frozen yogurt shop moved into the 640-square-foot retail space on the southwest corner of the property.

“We’re so excited to bring Golden Spoon to Old Poway Village,” said Carly Wheeler, Poway Golden Spoon franchisee. “We have deep roots in the community, so it all feels very nostalgic for us. I graduated from Midland Elementary right across the street and then up through Poway High.”

Wheeler turned to the community to bring the shop to life, enlisting the help of local Poway companies to build custom countertops and interior artwork, including printing their new flavor boards. Even their exterior signs are custom handcrafted pieces made by former MLB Pitcher, and Poway native, Brett Tomko.

The shop is open Sunday through Friday from noon to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“Adding Golden Spoon to Old Poway Village will not only be a tremendous benefit to the community, but it also represents another step we are taking to shape and re-position this iconic property as a thriving retail and entertainment asset to the entire Poway community,” said Travis Gorzeman, portfolio manager of Old Poway Village.
